Ford EcoSport crossover revealed in New Delhi

Ford Motor Company is on a quest to increase its presence in India?s growing auto market. To achieve that goal, it declared a couple of years ago that it was planning on launching eight new models there by 2015.
The first one was a revamped version of the Fiesta. It was introduced last year and was the first Ford sold in India with electronic power steering.
The second new model is a compact SUV dubbed the EcoSport. It was revealed by Ford CEO Alan Mulally at a press conference earlier today and will be one of the stars of the New Delhi Auto Expo when it opens its doors next Saturday.
The EcoSport?s exterior lines incorporate styling cues from Ford?s latest design language, including a large trapezoidal grille. The prominent wheel arches and the tall silhouette are both reminiscent of the upcoming Escape, while plastic molding on the lower body and rear-mounted spare tire help betray the fact that the SUV is based on the same B-segment platform as the Fiesta.
