Milner: Capello's exit not 'ideal' ahead of Euros

LONDON (AP) -The England squad has trained for the first time since Fabio Capello's resignation under the temporary command of Stuart Pearce ahead of Wednesday's friendly against the Netherlands.

With Capello quitting four months before the European Championship, winger James Milner says "the timing is not as ideal as you would want, changing manager so close to a major tournament."

But Milner believes Pearce has the credentials to remain in charge through to Euro 2012, having played for the England under-21 coach at two junior European Championships.

Milner says Pearce is "a great manager ... (and) thinks about every aspect which could come up in a tournament, every eventuality, how we are going to have to play, and how to plan for combating certain teams."
